Gregg Gonsalves, MPhil, is a PhD candidate in the Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases, Yale School of Public Health, and Research Scholar in Law and Lecturer in Law at the Yale Law School. He is the co-director of the Yale Global Health Justice Partnership, an initiative of Yale’s law and public health schools focusing on teaching, research and policy at the interface of health, medicine, law and human rights.
Mr. Gonsalves has been an AIDS activist for more than 20 years; he has worked domestically on AIDS drug development and clinical and basic research policy, focusing his attention on National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration and the pharmaceutical industry, and internationally on access to medicines and diagnostics in resource-poor settings. He formerly held fellowships with the Open Society Foundations and the Harvard Medical School Department of Global Health and Social Medicine. His doctoral work at Yale applies quantitative methods drawn from different disciplines, particularly operations research, to improve the efficiency and outcomes of programs for HIV and infectious diseases. Mr. Gonsalves received the 2014 PHSSR Pre-doctoral Scholar in Public Health Delivery award.
