Dissemination and Implementation Research to Improve Value (DIRECTIVE)

Anna G Hoover PhD  •  March 3, 2014

The Public Health PBRN National Coordinating Center is pleased to announce the launch of a funding opportunity for Dissemination and Implementation Research Studies through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. These awards will support selected PBRNs in conducting comparative studies designed to identify public health system characteristics and strategies that facilitate the effective and efficient implementation of evidence-based programs and services for health protection, promotion and disease prevention.

The Foundation’s application and review (A&R) online system is set up to issue just one invitation per PBRN for any Request for Proposal issued by the Coordinating Center.  The Coordinating Center has created invitations for each PBRN and has disseminated information about the RFP and application process to one key contact within each network. The individual who receives the invitation is not necessarily expected to be the PI but is someone who is in a position to disseminate the RFP across the network so that the group can begin internal discussions to identify likely investigators.  This person also is positioned to invite others to join in the application process on the A&R system.

Please note that for this RFP, networks must apply as a consortium of two or more networks. While all registered networks will receive invitations to apply, only one organization may submit an application on behalf of all participating networks within the consortium. Applicant consortia therefore must determine which organization will serve as the official applicant and provide this information, along with a list of other member organizations, to the Coordinating Center prior to proposal submission through the RWJF online application system. This information may be emailed to PublicHealthPBRN@uky.edu with the subject line “DIRECTIVE Applicant Organization for [PBRN 1] and [PBRN 2] Proposal”. Multiple applications from a single network or a single consortium will not be considered for funding.

Registered networks and the person within each network will receive an invitation to apply. Please contact this person to be added as a contributor in the A&R system.
